When the University of Miami and Florida State University kick off after 7:40 this evening in a national matchup that has playoff implications in Tallahassee, we should already know the result of the matchup with as much interest.
At 4:30 this early evening, Traz Powell Stadium – “The Mecca” for high school football – will host a contest with just as much interest as the Miami-FSU game.
Two of the most recognized public schools in the country will get together before a sold-out crowd in a Class 3A game that many believe will be the first of two meetings this season.
The history of this game goes back decades, and while the Rockets have won the past six, today’s matchup is one that could go either way.
The incentive for the Bulls and first year head coach Jaquatin Victrum, as defending state champions and as one of the top programs in the country is to break the losing streak and set up that next matchup which will be in the state playoffs.
For the Rockets and first year head coach Derrick Gibson is to prove that if this team wasn’t slapped with a probation for the use of an illegible player, they would be the defending state champions.
Any way you look at it is the attention of the high school football world will definitely fall on this game – no matter the outcome.
