Norland Gets It Started Against BTW Tonight

When the 2021 season kicks it off tonight (7:00) at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami, questions will be answered.

Miami Booker T. Washington, a longtime 4A power will take on 6A Miami Norland – loaded with talent, but falling short in the past.

Veteran head coach Darryl Heidelberg and his Vikings are stacked with prospects – and after a convincing kickoff classic win at Apopka Wekiva, this is a program that could be a real surprise.

The Vikings also feature Jermaine Beard (LB/FB, 5-11, 240 – 2.9 GPA), Jamari Holliman (DB, 6-1, 175 – 3.1 GPA), Caleb Jean (WR, 5-11, 170), Aidan Martinez (PK, 5-11, 170 – 2.78 GPA), Shevoun Minott (DE, 6-1, 230), Richard Murray (DB, 5-11, 175 – 4.25 GPA), Kemari Rhodd (DB, 5-10, 170 – 3.45 GPA), Morris Thomas (LB, 6-0, 200), Jamari Wilson (OL, 6-0, 270) and receiver Jeremiah Wilson (5-10, 165 – 2.8 GPA).

The senior class will also be fun to watch – with Nayron Adderly (OL/DL, 6-5, 335), David Capers (OL/DL, 6-0, 260), D’aric Gainer (DB, 5-10, 165 – 3.4 GPA), Jaden Hall (WR, 6-1, 175), Lavonte Jenkins (RB, 5-8, 170 – 2.6 GPA, 910 SAT), Keyon Meza (DB, 5-10, 175 – 2.7 GPA) and three-year varsity starting quarterback Deon Parker (5-10, 200 – 2.6 GPA).

Look for Norland to get plenty of out receiver Jacob Ramsey (6-0, 175), linebackers James Shaw (5-11, 185) and Amari Taylor (6-0, 175 – 3.0 GPA – 880 SAT) – and versatile lineman Tarik Williams (OL/DL, 6-0, 245 – 2.5 GPA).

Also, keep an eye on this sophomore class – as 2024 standouts are ready to make a huge contribution in 2021 as well. Rising prospect like gifted receiver Isaiah Scott (5-10, 155, 2.65 GPA), Jeremiah Marcelin (DE, 6-2, 210 – 3.35 GPA), Joaquin Reid (WR, 5-9, 150 – 3.11 GPA) and offensive lineman Jimmy Williams (6-4, 245 – 2.55 GPA).

BOOKER T. WASHINGTON STILL TURNING HEADS

Head Coach Gerald Cox and the Tornadoes are still a team that you have to keep and eye on after a solid summer.

Starting with Class of 2023 receiver standout Adam Moore (6-2, 210), who is indeed a game-changer.

The Class of 2023 is also stacked with young playmakers – such as rising Xavier Irvin (WR, 5-10, 175), Andrew Johnson (RB, 5-9, 170), Davion Lang (LB, 6-0, 180) and cornerback Fabian Scott (6-1, 170).

The Class of 2024 is also going to be fun to watch – with Jamorie Flagg (DT, 6-3, 255), Jadarious Gaines (RB, 5-10, 180), impressive and up-and-coming Claudell Sherman (QB, 5-10, 165) and running back Antwan Smith (5-10, 225).

The Tornadoes also have major prospects for the Class of 2022 in Semaj Flagg (DB, 6-2, 175) and Jason Jeanty (OT, 6-4, 290). Both are highly regarded and can play this game. Both will be needed in the 2021 season.

In addition to those three prospects, look for Antwan Bennie (LB, 6-0, 190), Jaylan Chandler (RB, 6-0, 200), Donte Easterling (LB, 5-10, 185), Jacob Love (WR, 6-2, 175), Walton McCollum (CB, 5-9, 165), Xavier McElliott (WR, 6-0, 175), emerging Cornell Roberts (WR, 5-10, 165) and linebacker Jakarie Sands (5-11, 195) to make a huge impact, relaying on maturity and experience alone.
