We had a special Labor Day Night Show as the popular and nationally-rated South Florida High School Sports radio show with Larry Blustein on 104.3 FM WQAM was on Monday this week – brought to you courtesy of University of Miami Health Sports Medicine.

Each week, the program attracts the newsmakers in high school sports, recruiting college sports – not only locally, but throughout the country.

The show gives listeners an opportunity to hear about college football programs statewide from the media that cover them. It also focuses on the coaches who use the state of Florida – Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in particular.

The program, which has been run for nearly two decades and has been rated as one of the top programs of its kind has become a popular listen for recruiting fans as well as high school sports purists, focusing on high sports and the newsmakers.

When the University of Florida opened the 2026 season with a convincing win against Florida Atlantic University on Saturday, a new era of Gators’ football began. This is a talented program with outstanding playmakers as Kevin Brockway from the Gainesville Sun talked about.

By running for a school record 343 yards last Friday night for the No. 1 rated Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders, senior Tyler Reid was a one man show in a 31-24 win over the nation’s No. 6 Miami Christopher Columbus Explorers.

The 2026 edition of the University of Miami football program made its successful debut on Friday night at Stanford and the Hurricanes came out with a conference win and some answers on what they need to work on to get back to the national title game this season. Adam Lichtenstein from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel spoke on this team.

After leading Keiser University’s football team to their third straight appearance in the NAIA national championship game, head coach Myles Russ and the Seahawks lost their season opener last Saturday in Anderson, South Carolina. It was the first regular season loss in two years.

When they beat Coral Springs Taravella last week, the Cooper City Cowboys started the season at 3-0 for the first time in quite a while. Head Coach Art Taylor has helped to turn the program around with some quality talent.

When Hialeah American beat North Miami in a key district game last Thursday night, the Patriots moved to 3-0 on the season. Under the direction of veteran head coach Tim Neal, who graduated from American, this is a program that is loaded with talent and believes that they will make the state playoffs.
