MIAMI-DADE/BROWARD: The Final Week Has Arrived

Well, we have gotten to the place where seniors had worked hard to get to.

The 11th and final week of the 2022 high school football season, and while some teams are still alive to realize their dreams of playing in the post season, others are ready to say goodbye to a sport they have worked hard to play all of their lives.

As some will take part in the state playoffs, others will prepare for college or get ready for a life ahead.

High school football has indeed been fun, and whether you are extending you football career or calling it quits after this week, it is something that you will look back at for years and years to come.

While we will continue to run our football rankings until the end of the season, here is a look at how things stand heading into Week 11:

1. Miami Central (2M – 9-0). THIS WEEK: Off This Week. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Rockets ended the regular season as district champions, beating Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace, 50-14.

2. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1M – 8-0). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end at home with a Thursday night (6:00) makeup game with Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Lions rolled to their fourth straight shutout, 63-0.

3. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (3M – 9-0). THIS WEEK: The Raiders will be off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Raiders finished the regular season with a 44-0 win against Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson.

4. Plantation American Heritage (2M, 9-1). THIS WEEK: The final week of the regular season will be off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Patriots closed out the season with a 63-0 district win against Hallandale.

5. Miami Christopher Columbus (4M, 9-1). THIS WEEK: The final regular season week will be off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Explorers ended the regular season with a 42-0 win against Hialeah Goleman.

6. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons (2M, 9-1). THIS WEEK: The Chiefs will have the final week off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The two-time defending state champions won their regular season finale, 49-20 against Fort Lauderdale Stranahan.

7. Miramar (3M, 6-1). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a Nov. 4 home game against Hollywood South Broward. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Patriots made it six straight with a Mayor’s Cup 50-6 win over Miramar Everglades.

8. Pompano Beach Blanche Ely (3M, 8-0). THIS WEEK: It’s the annual showdown at No. 9 Fort Lauderdale Dillard on Saturday, Nov. 5. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Tigers made it eight straight with a 47-12 win against West Boca Raton.

9. Fort Lauderdale Dillard (3M – 6-3). THIS WEEK:  It’s the annual “Soul Bowl” showdown at home against No. 8 Pompano Beach Blanche Ely on Saturday, Nov. 5. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Panthers went on the road and took care of Tallahassee Lincoln, 35-10,

10. Miami Booker T. Washington (2M –7-2). THIS WEEK: The Tornadoes take the final week of the regular season off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: This program ended the impressive regular season with a convincing 35-8 win over Westland Hialeah.

11. Plantation (3M – 7-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a Friday road game against No. 16 Davie Western. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Colonels rolled on with a 42-15 district game against Sunrise Piper.

12. Miami Norland (2M – 6-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a Thursday, Nov. 3 home game against Miami Killian. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Vikings put their offense into high gear with a 51-42 win over North Miami Beach.

13. Homestead (3M, 7-2). THIS WEEK: They will take the final week of the regular season off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Broncos won a key district game against Miami Belen Jesuit, 18-7.

14. Coconut Creek Monarch (4M, 7-2). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a Nov. 4 home game against Deerfield Beach. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Knights bounced back with a 40-0 district win against Coral Springs.

15. Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian (2M, 8-2). THIS WEEK: The team will have off this week. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Eagles ended the regular season with a bounce back district win, 40-0, against Oakland Park Northeast.

16. Davie Western (4M – 54-3). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home game on Nov. 4 against No. 11 Plantation. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Wildcats rolled to a convincing 63-0 win and wrapped up another district title.

17. Miami Northwestern (2M – 5-4). THIS WEEK: The final week of the regular season will be off. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Bulls bounced back to win the district title, 44-0, against Miami LaSalle Immaculata as senior quarterback Taron “Tyger” Dickens became the all-time leading passer in Miami-Dade County.

18. Hollywood Avant Garde (1M, 6-2). THIS WEEK: A season-ending regular season game at Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Sharks got back on the winning track with a 41-0 win against North Lauderdale Somerset Prep.

19. Coconut Creek (3M, 6-3). THIS WEEK: The Cougars travel to Miami to play Palmetto on Thursday, Nov. 3. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: Won for the fourth straight time, 40-0, against Deerfield Beach.

20. Miami Jackson (2M, 6-3). THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end on Friday, Nov. 4 with a home game against Miami High. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs Next Week. LAST WEEK: The Generals won for the sixth time in the past seven games, 15-6, over Miami Edison.
