FLORIDA-GEORGIA 2022: Team Florida Coaching Staff Is Indeed Elite

When Team Georgia defeated Team Florida, 26-10, in the renewal of this annual Florida vs. Georgia classic on January 17th, the race was on to even the score in 2022.

With the game slated once again for Martin Luther King Weekend (13-16) Sunday in Orlando, Team Florida announced its coaching staff for the game, and impressive may not be a strong enough word to use.

With veteran Miami Central head coach Roland Smith and his six overall state titles, his offensive coordinator Alexander Snipes and Miami Northwestern head coach Max Edwards coordinating the defense, this is certainly going to be fun to watch. Edwards and the Bulls have won three of the past four state titles.

The staff features 24 state champions, numerous runner-ups and icons in this profession. Coaches that so many communities have embraced with their development, teaching discipline and knowledge of the game.

From Mike Bennett of Pensacola Escambia to Mike Coe of Madison County, the championship pedigree is certainly in place – along with a passion for the game.

In Cameron Duke (Orlando Edgewater), Lenny Jankowski (Vero Beach) and Andrew Schmitz (New Port Richey JW Mitchell) you have men of character who have established winning traditions at their respective programs and in their communities. All have embraced this Florida-Georgia event.

For south Florida coaches Matt Dubuc (Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons), Roger Harriott (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas) and former Miami Dolphins standout Pat Surtain (Plantation American Heritage), you have nine combined state championships in a decade, along with dozens of elite prospects who have gone on to the next level – and beyond!

Add in record-setting Bradenton Southeast and FSU quarterback Adrian McPherson, and this staff is indeed one who will coach some of the best senior all-stars in the country during MLK Weekend.
