Throughout the course of a year, there are very few sources that can provide that live coverage of watching prospects perform – no more than six feet in front of you.
This is the time of year that all eyes are on the teams who are left in the playoffs and that signals that college interest is not far behind.
The longer you play into a season, the more opportunities that you have for exposure, and that is why the five teams left in the race for a state title have gotten to where they are because student/athletes are stepping up to make a difference.
With the state championships over the next two weeks, the excitement will indeed fill the air as all eyes will be on Tallahassee (1A-3A) and Fort Lauderdale (4A-8A).
Today, we bring you five prospects – one each from Champagnat Catholic (2A), Chaminade-Madonna (3A), Cardinal Gibbons (4A), Miami Central (5A) and St. Thomas Aquinas (7A).
2023 – Tre’Mone Drisdom, FS, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons. It was more than evident halfway through the 2021 season that this was someone that the Chiefs would be able to count on this season. A safety who will come up and make plays – while creating positives for a team getting ready to defend their 4A state title on Thursday night, Dec. 16 at 7:00 against Cocoa in Fort Lauderdale. Set the tone in many games – in the secondary as well as on special teams. The coaches love his work ethic and passion for this game. A huge talent!

2022 – Justin Fevrier, DT, St. Thomas Aquinas. It was all about learning and making an impact for the Raiders this past season – and if you ask anyone on this team – you would have to go a long way to find a more dedicated worked who picked up so much about the position the past six months. A solid student in the classroom (3.8 GPA), having the opportunity to come up big during a challenging schedule and one of the reasons that this program will be hosting unbeaten Tampa Bay Tech on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.

2022 – Dante Hunte, OLB, Miami Central. If you look at the success the Rockets have had this season, there are a number of outstanding prospects to point out. But while you are talking about players who change games, this is a way under-the-radar football player who has actually been as responsible for a date with Merritt Island on Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. as anyone on a defense that just does not break. If you have watched this team play, you already know.

2024 - Kimothy Massie Jr., WR, Hialeah Champagnat Catholic. When you talk about clutch performers on the football field, you are looking at a prospect who comes up big when needed, and there is no doubting this impressive sophomore who has done what it takes to give the Lions a chance at yet another state title. Playmakers come in many forms, and this slot receiver has truly impressed his teammates, coaches and fans, who are looking for a third consecutive state title on Thursday night in Tallahassee against Jacksonville Trinity Christian.

2023 – Wayne Peart, DT, Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. When you think about the Lions, it’s that pass rush – the front seven that continues to put pressure on, and while many others are in the spotlight for this program, Peart is truly someone who has stepped up and made a difference. After an outstanding off-season, he has come up big – and head coach Dameon Jones and his team will need his play on Friday in the 3A state title game against unbeaten Tampa Berkeley Prep in Tallahassee.
