2023 south Florida Linebackers Are A Talented Group

There are a number of positions that colleges come to Florida for – and while the defensive secondary, receivers and running backs steal the show, there is another position that is right there as well in south Florida.

For as long as many can remember, the linebacker position has produced some memorable and game-changing talent, and while different schemes have put the position in the spotlight, the opportunity for a linebacker to play various forms of the original position, linebackers still are cut from that same cloth.

As former safeties and running backs seem to make the best linebackers, playing the position – as a pass rusher, someone to drop into coverage and solid at blitz packages and stopping the run.

As we continue to build our database for thousands of college coaches at all levels to check out, we are putting out a watch list that will be adjusted as changes come in – and we update nearly every day so college coaches can check them out.

Because of the pandemic, our usual opportunity to see every south Florida school fell short, but we have been after it in the spring and summer, further providing college coaches and recruiters and another avenue to use in this recruiting process.

The Class of 2023 linebacking corps is indeed gifted with solid prospects still learning and adjusting.

Among those juniors to watch include nationally-recruited former running back Jayvant Brown (Deerfield Beach), who is indeed a difference maker with huge college interest already for the Bucks.

Also, Dieutrich Exantus (North Miami), three-year varsity starter Rodolfo Hernandez (South Miami - OLB), versatile Leonardo Layun (Coconut Creek Monarch - OLB) and standout David Vadala, who led Plantation American Heritage in tackles two straight years – while earning All-State honors both season. He heads to St. Thomas Aquinas as someone who will definitely elevate the position for the two-time defending 7A state champion Raiders.

In addition, the class also boasts impressive Alton Watts (Fort Lauderdale Dillard), soon-to-be a three year starter, Zavier Williams (Miami Coral Reef - OLB) and versatile and talented Marcus Woodley (Somerset Academy Silver Palms), who has some quality bloodlines.
